St. Patrick’s Catholic Church is a lovely and historic building located at the highest point of the school campus in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. Built in 1847, it was first cared for by the Kasauli garrison and managed by Franciscan missionaries from England. The church was supported by donations from the East India Company, Father Candidus, the 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment, and Her Majesty’s 61st Regiment. It was mainly used by Irish soldiers stationed in Kasauli. The first priest, Father Candidus, performed the earliest recorded baptism here on February 27, 1853, for a girl named Fanny. Today, the church is part of the Simla-Chandigarh Diocese and is managed by the Parish Priest, Titus Babu, who is also the chaplain for the convent.
