The Urusvati Himalayan Folk & Art Museum (Uruswati) Naggar Himachal Pradesh is a captivating museum located in Naggar, Himachal Pradesh. Nestled within the Roerich Estate and just 100 meters uphill from the Nicolas K. Roerich Art Gallery, this museum was founded in 1928 by Russian Professor Nicolas Roerich and his wife. Originally established as a research institute for Tibetan and Indian medicine, it was renamed “Uruswati,” meaning “Light of the Morning Star,” in 1993. The museum features an impressive collection of both Russian and local folk art, including musical instruments, stone carvings, and vibrant costumes from regions like Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Ladakh, and Tibet. Visitors can also enjoy authentic Roerich paintings alongside those by his Russian disciples.
